It is one of the most misunderstood fruits because it has a reputation of being fattening and therefore not recommended in weight loss diets. Avocado, however, is one of the most complete foods one can find in nature.

Avocado lowers cholesterol

It is rich in sterols, chemical compounds that have been scientifically proven to help reduce cholesterol, because they prevent blood from absorbing it. Research published in the Jama network studied a group of adults with hypertensive problems for a period of a total of two years. The results showed that the replacement of carbohydrates in their diets with foods rich in monounsaturated fats (such as those in avocados) led to a reduction in pressure and better blood lipid levels.

Avocado reduces the likelihood of heart disease

Research has shown that unsaturated fats, a trademark of avocados, can reduce the likelihood of heart disease. Analysis of a total of 50 individual clinical research concluded that the Mediterranean diet, which is rich in monounsaturated fats, helps to prevent metabolic syndrome, stroke and coronary artery disease.

Avocado reduces the likelihood of cancer

Healthy monounsaturated fats have been shown to help our body absorb more effectively the antioxidant substances that fight cancer, such as lycopene (found in tomatoes) and beta-carotene (found in carrot and potatoes).

Avocado regulates blood sugar

The good fats that contain delay digestion, thereby facilitating blood sugar, while the soluble fibre of the avocado stabilizes the level of sugar to combat insulin resistance. Loma Linda University’s new researchpublished in the Nutritional Journal showed that those who eat half an avocado with their lunch feel more satisfied with the meal and have a reduced appetite in the rest of the day.

Avocado helps in hair health

Moisturizing your hair with avocado makes the hairs more persistent after filling them with protein. Clean an avocado and stir its flesh with a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of jojoba oil. Apply the mask to wet hair and spread the mixture to the ends of the hair. Cover your head with a plastic bag for 15 to 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
