Garrett Oliver is the brewmaster of The Brooklyn Brewery, the author of The Brewmaster’s Table, and the Editor-in-Chief of The Oxford Companion to Beer. He was a founding board member of Slow Food USA and later served a five-year term as a Counselor for Slow Food International.
He first became involved in the Scandinavian culinary world in 2003, when he won the Semper Ardens Pris for Beer Culture in Denmark. In Copenhagen he met Claus Mayer, and soon was hosting a beer dinner at his new restaurant, noma. He later collaborated with Anders Kissmeyer on beers at Nørrebro Bryghus. Recently he’s hosted beer dinners at To Rom og Kjøkken in Trondheim, Matbaren in Stockholm and Amass in Copenhagen.
Today Garrett oversees brewing at Nya Carnegiebryggeriet in Stockholm and soon at E.C. Dahl’s in Trondheim. In 2014, Garrett was the winner of the James Beard Award for “Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional”.
